A Constable with the Morse RCMP, who is currently suspended with pay, will be in Swift Current Provincial Court today to answer to firearm-related charges from an incident dating back to last year.

Cst. Dale Malbeuf was arrested without incident in Edmonton on December 13, 2016, after allegations were made that he produced and pointed a firearm at an adult female at a residence in the Alberta capital.

He was initially charged with the following last December:

  • One count, pointing a firearm, section 87(1) of the Criminal Code, and
  • One count, careless use of a firearm, section 86(1) of the Criminal Code

Malbeuf's court date today in Swift Current Provincial Court will see the 12-year member of the RCMP answer to the following charge stemming from an investigation by the Saskatchewan RCMP and Provincial Crown:

  • One count of possession of a restricted firearm without a registration certificate, section 91(3) of the Criminal Code

As Cst. Malbeuf is also the current subject of an RCMP Code of Conduct, the RCMP says they will not be making any further comment at this time.

However, updates from Swift Current Provincial Court will be provided by the Swift Current Online newsroom as they arise.
