As a part of Canada 150 celebrations, cities across the country will be showing Canadian-made films today.

Swift Current Branch Library will be hosting the event in Swift Current. Branch Manager Andrea McCrimmon explains

"We're excited that we're having National Canadian Film Day here at the Swift Current Branch Library, and we are showing the film Sharkwater," she said. "It coincides with Earth Day, so we thought we would pick an environmentally themed movie, and this firm is a documentary that depicts what people are doing to stop the exploitation of sharks around the world."

The film is open to all ages, but rated PG, so parents should bring kids if they would like to attend. In addition to the movie itself, McCrimmon says there will also be prizes.

"Reel Canada, who is putting on this cross-Canada film festival, is sending us lots of great prizes," she said. "T-shirts, candy, and lots of cool film swag."

The movie will begin at 7 p.m. at the Swift Current Branch Library.
