A Swift Current Psychologist has recently been awarded a Doctoral Fellowship from the Social Studies and Humanities Research Council of Canada.

Conor Barker, who is presently undertaking his PhD in Education Psychology at the University of Regina, talks about his research.

"My research project is looking at rural school Psychologists from across the province, and what I'm doing is I'm collecting the stories and their experiences and really kind of promoting the voice of rural school Psychologists to the broader field of Psychology."

Doctoral students in Social Science fields from all across Canada compete annually for the awards, with only the top 12.1% of projects funded. And, in Saskatchewan, only six awards were received this year.

Barker will receive $40,000 over two years and says the money will go towards tuition, travel expenses, and free time to focus on the study.
