While some municipalities voice their opinion on what the Saskatchewan government has rolled out for its pot plan, the City of Swift Current isn’t commenting yet.

Minimum age for consumption isn’t expected to be determined by the province until spring, and more information on applications to become a cannabis retailer has yet to come as well.

The City of Saskatoon is moving towards including marijuana in bylaws that restrict smoking.  

Moose Jaw Mayor Fraser Tolmie has said he’s against recreational marijuana being legal, but they’re still waiting for more details to be announced.

The federal government plans on legalizing marijuana for recreational use July 1. Initially the Justin Trudeau government came up with a plan for a 50-50 split on tax revenue with the provinces, but later agreed to a 75-25 share, with the majority going to provinces.

Some municipalities are after a share of tax revenue. No word yet on whether Swift Current is in that club.
