After 15 years the City of Swift Current is changing who examines their financial records.

A motion was approved in city council last night to switch the City's auditor from Stark & Marsh to Meyers Norris Penny (MNP), following a request for proposals (RFP) was posted by the city on Sask Tenders. The decision is effective immediately.

"When we evaluated the submissions from the RFP, Meyers Norris Penny came in with the highest rating overall," Kathy Hopfner, general manager of corporate services with the City of Swift Current, said.

Four proposals were submitted to the city for the auditing services, with MNP being deemed the best value for the city.

The ratings were determined by an evaluation formula that included reviewing each companies experience, qualifications, quality assurance, cost, audit plan, and degree of familiarity with the public sector accounting board guideline and requirements.

Hopfner added that the transition to a new auditor is expected "to be a smooth transition to MNP."
