There’s good news for parts of Swift Current that were subject to a drinking water advisory.

Following a precautionary drinking water advisory being declared in Swift Current, residents can now rest easy knowing that their water is clear of harmful contaminants, although that doesn't mean the issue is completely settled.

Last Tuesday's water main break which resulted in the advisory being declared in the Highland and Trail Subdivisions of Swift Current was announced to be lifted earlier today following testing done in Regina.

The City of Swift Current mentioned alongside the good news that residents in the affected area should let their taps run.

It is recommended that each tap in the household be run for about 20 seconds, dispersing air trapped in the water lines.

In the event that your water is discoloured, cold water should be allowed to run for a longer period of time.

The advisory was lifted due to the Water Security Agency finding two sets of water samples taken from the City coming up negative.

Prior to the tests, a 24-hour incubation period is required for samples, adding to the time needed for testing before giving the all clear.

The City thanked residents for patience in the situation.
