It's the Christmas season, and at City Council Monday night Swift Current Staff Sergeant Gary Hodges said that instances of thefts from cars are up.

Usually there's a spike before Christmastime, and Hodges said this year is especially so.

Hodges said a lot of recent instances have been of Christmas gifts.

He, as well as council, reminded residents to lock their cars and not leave purchases visible to people passing by.
