Earlier today a collision occurred at the intersection of Central Avenue North and George Street when a vehicle collided with a traffic light pole.

Traffic was delayed for over an hour before being restored.

Corporal Amy Hunter is with the Swift Current Municipal RCMP and said due to the traffic light pole being knocked down the intersection has been turned into a four-way stop.

"The light on the east side of the intersection of George Street and Central Avenue North is currently under repair and needs to be replaced," she said. "Currently all of the lights in that intersection are not operating and are flashing red and need to be treated as a four-way stop. All barricades that are posted at that intersection need to be respected as any vehicle that would normally enter the lane where the light pole is being repaired, so that area is blocked.

Hunter added that there is no timetable for when the intersection will return to normal but city crews are working on repairing the lights.

The RCMP, Swift Current City Fire Department, and EMS attended the scene.

One of the occupants of the vehicle was treated for minor injuries and was released on scene.

No charges were laid and RCMP are investing the cause of the incident.
