The Village of Tompkins will be seeing its community rally together tonight.

Recent damage to water lines at the village's water station has the community stepping up to assist with the cost of repairs.

A Medicine Hat family who has family living in Tompkins is coordinating the event. As well, Medicine Hat band 'Blind Monday' has decided to join the fundraising festivities, something that has impressed a member of the Tompkins village office.

Colette Evans, Clerk at the Village of Tompkins, explains the village is glad to have this level of community involvement.

"So this family took it upon themselves and organized this supper and dance. Of course we're helping them with it, because our community is going to benefit from it," she said.

Evans says that a government grant is being pursued as well to help with funding for repairs, however receiving the grant is not a guaranteed process.

The village clerk shares that any help is enough help when it comes to fundraising for the maintenance of village infrastructure. She also hopes the community enjoys the event which, in turn, will help itself thrive.
