Two watermain breaks on Walsh Trail yesterday temporarily shut water off in the highland and trail areas of Swift Current, and has had City crews working all-hours to fix the issues ailing zones 1 and 2 in the city.

The issues in the area have led the City to notify the public regarding the Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory (PDWA) and how long they expect that to remain in effect.

"These two watermain breaks yesterday are not going to extend the length of the PDWA," said Michael Boutilier, Communications and Stakeholder Relations Coordinator with the City. "The drinking water advisories for the latest water main breaks have been rolled into one because they're in the same area. So, once that single advisory is lifted, it will be lifted for the entire works."

With temperatures hovering around 30 degrees at times this week and over the weekend, Boutilier says the City also recognizes the inconvenience of unplanned water shut-offs, and thanks the public for their cooperation.

"This time of year when it's hot out, you certainly rely on water probably even more than normal. With the complete shut-downs of water and PDWA, we really appreciate the city for their patience."

With a standard advisory length of 48-72 hours, the current PDWA in place looks to be winding up this weekend. However once made official by the City of Swift Current, look to SwiftCurrentOnline or the City of Swift Current website.
