A trio of Swift Current swimmers had to cancel their trek across the English Channel due to poor weather conditions.

Meghan Chisholm (CHIS-um), Erin Hilts and Vaughn Golden were waiting for the weather to clear up for a while at Port Dover, England. At one point they hoped to embark on their relay earlier this week, but the conditions were far too dangerous.

On Monday 44-year-old English triathlete Douglas Waymark died after being airlifted to a hospital after completing part of his swim.

On Tuesday Chisholm - who completed the swim in under 15 hours as a 19 year old in 2014 - issued a statement thanking everyone for their support, and saying "We are all devastated by the news, we are now going to be traveling our separate ways with the time we have left. The weather is beyond anyone's control, and safety is number one."

The weather at the channel did not look like it was improving in the coming days, so the Swift Current crew went their separate ways to see some sights.
