The SPCA Bookstore will celebrate its 40th anniversary in business today in Swift Current.

The bookstore was first established in 1976 at the Coopers Co-op and since have relocated twice including into their current location at 37 1 Ave Northeast.

SPCA Bookstore Manager Anne Whitlock reveals the details of the event.

"We are going to have coffee, tea, and juice. Great deals on our books, puzzles and we are also going to have some dainties for our customers as they come in. We're hoping to have some of the volunteers that have worked (at the store) in the past come in through the course of the day, and everyone is invited," she said Thursday morning.

Whitlock also added for those hoarders out there, the SPCA bookstore has your solution.

"Some people have great difficulty throwing things out, we also partner with the Community Living and Saskatchewan Abilities Council for recycling purposes (reusing purposes) and for books that we can't use here. It's a win-win situation for everybody," she told SwiftCurrentOnline.  

The Swift Current SPCA is a local volunteer-directed registered charity which receives no provincial or federal funding, with the SPCA Bookstore being its main revenue stream.

The SPCA Bookstore carrying approximately 15,000 books and accepts public donations of books, puzzles, comic books and DVD's.
