The City of Swift Current is going full bore in their attempt to fix up some roads.

Most of the construction began this week throughout the City with multiple projects now underway including a few blocks being redone on Chaplin Street and Herbert Street.

Mitch Minken, the general manager of infrastructure and operations for the City of Swift Current, said they're in full swing right now.

"We're trying to get all of our repair work done right now," he said. "The pavers like to start here because we usually have the best weather conditions early on and then they'll wander off and work in other communities for most of the summer."

The construction companies will return just before freeze up and do some patchwork Minken noted.

Aside from the two major projects on Chaplin and Herbert Street, the other work will be minor repairs.

"The rest is bits and pieces of failures from that we had from this winter, which was a pretty hard winter on our streets," he said. "We're doing a lot of repairs."

The City is using a new approach to the repairs as they've brought in a milling machine to mill out the old pavement before applying a full repair patch.

"Hopefully we will have better results, and it will stand up better as we go forward," Minken said.

Feedback from residents of Swift Current has played a role in what's being fixed as Minken said the City is appreciative of the phone calls which help them make sure they didn't miss any spots.
