Continuing their rise up the standings, the K-Motel Midget ‘AA’ Broncos picked up their fifth straight victory Wednesday night at the Fairview Arenas.

Hosting the Moose Jaw Warriors, the Broncos used a pair of goals from Tristen Sulz and Matthew Christianson propelling them to a 5-1 win.

Sulz got momentum on Swift Current’s side with 6:44 remaining in the first period, putting the Broncos out in front 1-0.

Sulz’s goal held up  as the only marker late into the second, however, the Broncos quickly add some insurance just prior to the second intermission.

Christianson extended the Swift Current lead to 2-0 with under three minutes to play, before Aaron Wittmier made it 3-0 just 1:36 later.

Early on in the final frame, the Broncos put to bed an idea of a Moose Jaw comeback.

For the second time in the game, Sulz found the back of the net putting Swift Current up 4-0.

Not to be outdone by Sulz though, Christianson netted his second of the game midway through the frame, blowing the game open.

Holding onto the shut-out into the later stages of the third period, Broncos starting goalie Brad Nyen was unable to maintain the clean sheet, with Moose Jaw finding the back of the net in the final six minutes of the game.

Despite not picking up the shut-out, Nyen’s performance further continued his recent hot streak.

Over his last three games Nyen has posted a 1.33 goals against average.

With the win the Broncos jumped into a three way tie for seven place in league standings with the Regina Vics and Notre Dame Hounds.

Broncos leading scored Rhett Stevenson had a pair of assists in the contest, extending his point streak to eight games.

Swift Current will go for their sixth straight win Friday when they host the Lusmden/Bethune Lions.
