The Center in Swift Current is now offering a new bursary in honour of a beloved local dentist, Dr. Lawrence Reimer, who passed away in January 2022.

The bursary represents Dr. Reimer's character as someone who was a friend to many people and would put others before himself.

Nathan Wiebe, executive director at The Center, hopes to commemorate such an impactful community member in a way that will continue to help others.

"Dr. Lawrence Reimer was a heart and soul type of man," said Wiebe. "He really supported us, with Cindy [his wife] and his family, in some incredible ways in the past and we just wanted to honour him in a special way.

The bursary will be available for high school graduates who are enrolled in a post-secondary institution and exhibit a willingness to help others.

"We want to see a youth that exemplifies an attitude of service amoung their peers and goes above and beyond to serve those around them," Wiebe added.

Candidates can apply at sccyi.ca under the bursary tab and applications will be closing on May 15, with results following shortly after.

"Just a lot of gratitude towards the Reimer family," concluded Wiebe.
