Swift Current Kidsport was left overjoyed Tuesday after Tim Horton's lent a helping hand.

The smile cookie campaign raised $10,154.00 that was donated toward the children's charity devoted to helping assist children of families that are facing financial barriers participate in community sports programs.

Tim Horton's has now donated over $65,000 to Swift Current Kidsport in nine years, something President of Swift Current Kidsport Richard Bissonnette is thankful for.

"I'd just like to continue encouraging our community to support that project. We really appreciate that Tim Horton's has thought of us this way, it's a big part of being able to fund kids in our community to be able to keep them playing sports. Without them, I'm not sure how much we'd really be able to help, that a lot of money over the last nine years that we would have had to do other fundraisers to come up with that money," he said Thursday afternoon.

Bissonnette also shed some light on the Smile Cookie project and how the donations work.

"It's a big number ($10,154) and it's a lot of cookies. When you're looking at $1 for every cookie sold, every penny from that dollar goes towards our local Kidsport. That's a lot of cookies in a short period of time, it's about a week that it runs for. That's a lot of generous donations from our local community and our Tim Horton's," he told SwiftCurrentOnline.

Saskatchewan Kidsport has helped over 46,500 kids participate in community sports programs and has raised approximately $3.5 million.
