The Sask Health Authority announced the province has suffered a fifth death due to complications with the coronavirus.

The Monday edition of the daily update from the SHA reported that an individual from the far north region of the province has passed away. The SHA noted they were in their 80s.

The update also announced a dozen new cases and no new recoveries – 11 of the new cases are in the far north region, with the 12th in the north region.

It's the largest increase in reported cases since the April 5 update announced 18 new cases.

With five deaths, 365 reported cases, and 288 recoveries, that puts the number of active cases of the virus at 72.

There are still 15 reported cases and one active case in the south region.

Breaking the 365 cases down by age range:

  • 0-19 y/o: 30 cases,
  • 20-39 y/o: 132 cases,
  • 40-59 y/o: 124 cases,
  • 60-79 y/o: 68 cases,
  • 80+ y/o: 11 cases.

Two individuals are currently in the ICU and five others are also hospitalized, and receiving inpatient care.

The number of performed tests for COVID-19 around the province is now up to 28,296.
