In a brief ten minute speech, Premier Scott Moe addressed the province in a live stream on Wednesday night.

Ahead of a more detailed announcement set to occur tomorrow regarding the provincial government's plans to re-open the economy as the COVID-19 curve continues to flatten, Moe spoke about Saskatchewan's current success and challenges in that area, what restrictions may or may not be lifted under what conditions, and what kind of timeframe those lifting of restrictions would be likely to take.

"It is a plan developed in close consultation with Saskatchewan’s Chief Medical Health Officer Doctor Shahab. It is a plan that will be carried out in five phases, and as we proceed with each phase, we will carefully monitor COVID-19 case numbers and adjust the plan as required."

He added that the follow-up press conference, scheduled for Thursday morning, would address which businesses and services would be included in each stage of the plan to re-open the province's economy, as well as some dates in May where those steps would finally begin to move forward.

But he cautioned that this will not be an immediate process; rather calling it a gradual, methodical and cautious approach.

"Again, let me be clear - It’s not like flipping on a light switch. If anything, it’s more like a dimmer switch that’s been turned down… over the next several weeks, we will gradually be turning up the light once again on Saskatchewan’s economy."
