Harvest operations are just getting underway despite rain delays in some areas of the Province.

Cory Jacob is a Crops Extension Specialist with the Ministry of Agriculture says harvest progress is most advanced in the southeast and southwest regions.

“We’re currently sitting at less than 1% of the crop in the bin but we have had some combining happen in the last week to ten days. Just over 1% of the crop is swathed or ready to straight-cut. We’ve started into it, we’re a little behind the five year average for this time of year which is 4% combined and 5% swathed or straight cut.”

So far, 19% of the fall rye, 14% of the winter wheat, 3% of the field peas and 1% of the lentils are now in the bin.
