Farmers will be out checking crops for damage after a number of storms moved through the Province over the weekend.

Tornadoes were reported in the Rockglen area Friday, around Northgate on Saturday, and a Waterspout was spotted near Moose Jaw.

Shannon Chant is a crops extension specialist with the Ministry of Agriculture.

"Usually with hail damage, sometimes that can open up some wounds on the plant, so it might be a good idea just to go and check and see what's on the plant, what it's looking like.

"Some hail damage I saw earlier this month had knocked some of the tops of the plants off, but odds are they can recover. If there are crops that are poding, there may be some injury there depending on if the pods got knocked off or not."

She notes depending on the crop staging and if they didn’t get hit to hard there’s a potential for the plant to recover.
