The Swift Current 57's padded the stats last night against the Brooks Bombers, earning an 18-3 win on the road for their fifth-straight victory.

Things got out of hand quickly in the one-sided effort, as the 57's piled on six runs in the first inning, two in the second, one in the third, five in the eighth, rounding things out with four more in the ninth inning.

Five long balls cleared the fence for the 57's at the hitter-friendly Elks Stadium. Both John Sechen and Jack Large had two apiece, including one grand slam each, with Breyden Eckout adding the fifth homer.

Large and Sechen of course led the way in the RBI department. Hitting out of the seven-hole as the designated hitter, Large drove in six runs. Meanwhile, five were driven in by Sechen, hitting fifth.

Eckout posted a three RBI outing, with two apiece from Tanner Holen, and catcher Luis Navarro.

On the mound for the 57's, starter Tyler Murphy and Navarro played keep-away nearly to perfection. Murphy avoided the Bombers' bats over six shutout innings, allowing five hits, while striking out seven.

The emphatic win didn't help the 57's (34-17) make up any ground on the first-place Regina Red Sox (35-14) in the race for top spot in the Eastern Division though. The Red Sox thumped the Melville Millionaires 12-2 to keep the two-game gap in the standings.

Swift Current looks to duplicate their performance again tonight, as they wrap up a two-game set with the Bombers at 7:05 p.m.
