A homerun derby by the visiting Okotoks Dawgs halted the Swift Current 57's win streak at nine games.

Thanks to an aggressive win blowing to left field, the visiting Dawgs out-homered the 57's 4-2 en route to a 9-6 result in favour of Okotoks.

Ben Komonosky accounted for both of Swift's big flies.

He crushed a second-inning line drive over the left field wall for a solo shot, and followed that up with a towering three-run blast in the fourth inning. The catcher finished the game 3-for-4 with those four RBI.

The offensive production was somewhat subdued throughout the rest of the 57's lineup.

Ruben Rodriguez had two singles, and both Nick Canas and Anthony Stewart added solo RBI to account for the rest of the notable offensive output.

Starter Jack Ferguson lasted three innings, getting chased after giving up four runs on six hits - he struck out four batters before exiting the game.

Reliever Tommy Steier fell victim to the long ball as well, allowing three runs on four hits over just two innings of work.

Also coming out of the pen, Nick Hooper and Keil Krumwiede allowed single runs over their two-inning outings. Hooper gave up just one hit, while the veteran Krumwiede surrendered three.

After starting their nine-game winning streak with a 14-17 record, the 57's current 23-18 mark is a much more comfortable position heading into the final stretch of the regular season.

Swift Current now plays just one game against a team with a record over .500 in their final seven games before playoffs.

The first matchup against a sub-.500 club is this Sunday after a day off, as the 57's travel to the friendly city to take on the Moose Jaw Miller Express (19-20).

The lone tilt against a team above that mark comes Monday against the Regina Red Sox (22-16).
