Shaunavon Mayor Grant Greenslade.

The Town of Shaunavon has sent a letter to Saskatchewan Minister of Health, Jim Reiter, regarding their feelings on a lack of ambulance services in Shaunavon.

Shaunavon Mayor Grant Greenslade says, "It has come to our attention that the ambulance service in Shaunavon has been somewhat compromised. Right now, we're looking at spuratic coverage from seven p.m. until seven a.m. every day."

The letter sent states that during that time frame, since October 2016, the Town has been reliant on ambulance services from other communities in the southwest. With much renewed oil activity in the area, and a growing population Town Council is asking the Minister to give direction to the Cypress Health Region to provide immediate staffing to facilitate full time first and second car ambulance services, without any service interruptions.

Greenslade says, "We need more staff..we need more funding obviously. This is a situation that needs to be fixed now."

The letter was also sent to local RM's and surrounding southwest communities, as well as to Greg Ottenbriet, Minister Responsible for Rural and Remote Health, to the Cypress Health Region interim CEO, Larry Allsen, Cypress Hills MLA, Doug Steele and Premier Brad Wall.
