A Swift Current business has stepped forward with a donation to The Close to the Heart Campaign.

Bert Gruetzner of Kurt's KFC recently presented a cheque for $1,000 for The Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation.

It was a personal donation for Gruetzner, as his mother is a breast cancer survivor and he said he knows the importance of having the best medical equipment available. "I think as a member of our business community we all need to make sure that we support these kinds of initiatives that make our community and those that it serves in the surrounding areas a better place to live."

Jim Dekowny, Executive Director for the Doctor Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation said that it's encouraging to see local businesses supporting this work in the region and this donation gets them one step closer to their fundraising goal of $350,000 for a digital mammography machine.

He adds, "Bert is a business person in Swift Current, and I just think it's really cool that we have some businesses step up . And for Bert to step up and help us really says  a lot about what he's meant to the community and what he does for the community."

The Black Tie NHL Hockey Draft in Swift Current, a fundraiser for the Healthcare Foundation, has been postponed to a later date.

The Taste of the Arts fundraiser in Shaunavon has also been postponed.
