The Museum Association of Saskatchewan (MAS) had their 2022 MAS Awards on June 10, presenting an individual award of merit to Stephanie Kaduck, long-time education and public programs coordinator for the Swift Current Museum.

Kaduck retired this summer after nearly two decades of working with the museum conducting research, curating exhibitions, planning games and activities for school groups, taking programs out to senior centres, and managing social media pages.

"There are lots of little bits of Swift Current history embedded in this brain,” she said.

MAS presents awards in the categories: Award of Merit – Institutional, for a project over fifty-thousand dollars, Award of Merit – Institutional, for a project under fifty-thousand dollars, and Award of Merit – Individual, to recognize impactful contributions of an individual.

Kaduck said that receiving the award was unexpected.

“I appreciate the opportunity to have worked at the museum, and to have been supported by my colleagues to do the kinds of things I wanted and loved,” she reflected.

With her Master’s Degree in Fine Arts, Stephanie said creativity comes easy to her, which is a major part of the job.

Throughout the years she has been using this degree, along with her passion, to paint in her spare time.

“Now I have the opportunity to be a full-time artist,” she enthused. “I’m quite excited.”

Kaduck has already visited art galleries to display her work and plans to continue doing so.
