The Canada Day Parade has wound its way through Swift Current, leaving no shortage of candy and smiles in its wake.

Plenty of floats were entered in this year's parade, with themes ranging from agriculture, car culture, horticulture and more.

With the Swift Current City RCMP leading the way in full red coat regalia, they were followed up shortly by Swift Current Mayor, Al Bridal, in a pristine square body GMC Jimmy.

Afterwards, it was a barrage of colours, music, tassels and streamers. Floats were brought by non-profits, local businesses, and even some nation-spanning brands.

Of course, some of the coolest things every year are the tractors. From the old-school cool mid-sized open-seated John Deeres' to the massive modern engines on tracks that lumber softly along the ground.

Of course, the classic car scene was alive and well, with plenty of owners making appearances to appease the chrome addicts that were seated in the shade.

The shade itself was a cool commodity in hot demand. Every inch of shadow had a seat planted in it. Folks came out in the thousands to watch, so of course the city's green spaces were manicured and ready for everyone to come out and enjoy the show.

Later tonight, folks may want to keep their lawn chairs ready, as the Canada Day Fireworks show will be visible from quite a distance when it goes off. The best place to come out and see it will be at Kinetic Park, as Frontier Days wrap up for another year. Suffice it to say, 2023 really has been Steers and Cheers in honour of 85 years.
