The Salvation Army is helping spread Christmas cheer to those in need this year.

The Christmas hamper registration is now open for those lower-income families needing a bit of help this holiday season.

Renee Mailman is an officer at the Salvation who has helped set up this year's Christmas hamper registration. Applications can be found on the Swift Current Salvation Army  Facebook page or registrants can call them and fill out the application. The applications are open until November 18, and hampers can be picked up from December 12 to 16.

Mailman reflects on the importance of the community with this initiative.

“We will be looking for volunteers once we know how this year is going to look and we are appreciative of any donations,”

This year's hampers will include gift cards as well as some goodies and a hot chocolate pack. If they apply for toys the wish tree will be up again this year that will have tags of items that the children have wished for. The wish tree will be out on November 18 at the Swift Current Mall.

Mailman reflects on the upcoming season of giving.

“We are really looking forward to this Christmas and holiday season and can’t do what we do without the support of this community”
