The City of Swift Current is in the preliminary stages of a large sale at South Munro Industrial Park.

During City Council Monday night, City administration shared that RDC National Inc. was interested in purchasing a 4.98-acre lot for roughly $971,000.

Swift Current's General Manager of Planning and Growth Development Marty Salberg wasn't able to share much on the potential deal just yet.

"Given their request for confidentiality, the nature of the business cannot be revealed at this time," he said. "However, it has been determined that it fits within the M2 heavy industrial zoning district."

City council approved an agreement plan that allows a 10-month due diligence time for RDC National Inc. on the purchase of the lot. The first six months will see the U.S.-based company hand the City a $5,000 refundable deposit. The final four months of the deal would see the City receive $5,000 for each month if the company exercises the extended due diligence period. If they buy the land in the end, each payment would contribute to the purchase price.

Water and sewer connections still need to be established at the site.

The last part of the deal would see Swift Current help the business obtain a development and building permit.

"Administration is excited about this potential development and is committed to developing an agreement with RDC National Inc. that outlines the above conditions," Salberg said.
