The cost to keep Swift Current water clean in increasing.

In documents released at last Monday's city council meeting, it was outlined that the City is going to need nearly $25,000 more than last year to treat water.

In 2018 the City spent $620,300 in water treatment chemicals, and the anticipated cost to treat Swift Current's water in 2019 is estimated to fall around $645,157.

The City says that these prices are not including GST and PST for the chemicals.

That estimate is based on the lowest quoted unit price meeting the City's specifications.

Most of the product will be coming from ClearTech Industries in Regina, but an estimated 1,000 metric tonnes of liquid alum will be coming from ChemTrade West located in Saskatoon.

Notable changes in price include caustic soda increasing by 11.2 per cent, and chlorine liquefied gas decreasing by 7.2 per cent.
