Warren's Funeral Home will be moving forward with their proposed crematorium in Memory Gardens Cemetery after council's approval earlier this week.

The decision was made by council after public notice was given in June and a public hearing was held at council during their last meeting.

Michael Ruus, general manager of planning and growth development with the City of Swift Current, said the City did not receive any objections to the project.

"Our group (the City) was involved in the initial review and doing the public consultation seeking feedback from nearby property owners," he said. "We're happy they're able to move forward with an exciting new project for the community."

Ruus added that he's excited to see Swift Current companies expanding their operations within the city.

"It's great to see our local businesses continue to be successful and continue to invest in the community."

The next step in the project for Warren's Funeral Home is finalizing their building plans and then they will be able to start construction once the plans are complete.
