Last night was a moment former Swift Current Broncos goaltender Joel Hofer won't soon forget.

The Winnipeg-born netminder made 23 saves in his National Hockey League debut dawning St. Louis Blues threads and helping backstop them to a 5-3 victory over the San Jose Sharks.

Not only did the 6-foot-5 21-year-old post a win in his first appearance in the NHL, but he also recorded an assist. That feat hasn't been pulled off in the league since Alex Auld on January 23, 2002, while in goal for the Vancouver Canucks.

Hofer spent parts of two seasons with Swift Current from 2017 to 2019, appearing in 49 regular-season games.

He also played two playoff games for the Broncos during the team's 2018 playoff run that end in them hoisting the Ed Chynoweth Cup.
