The look of the expansion franchise joining the Western Canadian Baseball League was unveiled last week in central Alberta.

Starting in the 2021 campaign, the newly-named Sylvan Lake Gulls will flock to the league’s Western Division.

The franchise’s team name and logo were officially revealed to the soon-to-be fans of the club, rounding out an in-depth process that included weeks of submissions and voting.

The Gulls will call the soon-to-be constructed Pogadl Park home in 2021 and beyond.

With the Yorkton Cardinals and Melville Millionaires’ hiatus in the 2020 season to tackle financial matters not confirmed to last just one season, it remains to be seen exactly who the Gulls will be battling in the Western Division.

Currently, the Gulls would become the WCBL’s 11th franchise, should the two eastern Sask clubs not return.

That would put the Gulls up against the Lethbridge Bulls, Okotoks Dawgs, Edmonton Prospects, Fort McMurray Giants, and Brooks Bombers in the Western Division.

Meanwhile, with the Medicine Hat Mavericks shifting over to the Eastern Division for at least the 2020 season, the Mavs would join the Swift Current 57’s, Regina Red Sox, Moose Jaw Miller Express, and Weyburn Beavers.
