The Shaunavon Fire Department was called out Wednesday afternoon around 20 after 5 to a fire located four miles north and four miles east of Shaunavon.

Shaunavon Fire Chief, Merrick Goldstein, said the hot temperatures and high winds were a huge factor in fighting the blaze, which burnt about 60 acres of stubble and pasture.

There were no injuries reported and the cause of the blaze is under investigation.

Goldstein thanked the neighbors for their help and people that came out with water trucks, as well as the RM Grader and a local farmer for plowing fire guards.
