It may have been a chilly Wednesday night, but that didn't stop people from enjoying ice cream and checking out some classic and new cars.

The monthly Cruisin' in Dairy King event was hosted for the first time in 2019 and saw a total of 25 cars come out for the show.

Shonnon Klassen, who co-owns the Dairy King with her husband, said that the event, now in its third year, went really well.

"It was a cool night, threatening rain, so we didn't have quite as many cars as we normally do if it's a little bit warmer, but we had about 25 cars out for people to take look at," she said. "There was a lot of people around so a try and see how it would go, and it has really taken off the last couple years."

Klassen said they like to host the outing because it gives people in the community something else to do.

"It's just a community event," she said. "It's just one more thing that people can come and gather around. Just that commonality. Some of our seniors like to reminisce about 'Well that was the kind of car I had when I was a teenager,' and some of the young people like to dream about having a classic car of their own, so it's really kind of a coming together point for a lot of the community, and it's just a lot of fun."

She said that started it three years ago because there wasn't anything like it in the city.

"We always kind of always liked that kind of a throwback to old car, everybody is kind of hanging out in the evening," she noted. "We knew that there was possibly a need for it in town, there's not a lot of events like that here, so we decided to give it a try and see how it would go, and it has really taken off the last couple years."

The Cruisin' in Dairy King featured cars from the Eliminators Car Club.
