Former Swift Current Broncos captain Clarke Caswell's remarkable first season south of the border now includes an NCAA Division I national championship.

Caswell’s University of Denver Pioneers completed a third-period comeback Saturday night in Las Vegas, defeating the Wisconsin Badgers 2-1 in the Frozen Four championship game to capture the program’s record 11th national title.

Season with Denver

Although held off the scoresheet in the final, Caswell played a key role in helping Denver reach the championship game. The Brandon, Manitoba product scored the game-tying goal with under three minutes remaining in regulation Thursday against the top-ranked Michigan Wolverines, forcing overtime in a 4-3 double-overtime semifinal victory.

The 20-year-old finished his freshman season with eight goals and 26 assists for 34 points in 42 games.

Broncos career

Caswell joined Denver following three full seasons with the Swift Current Broncos, where he served as captain during the 2024-25 campaign. He skated in 199 regular-season games with the Broncos, recording 57 goals and 134 assists for 191 points, along with 13 points in 14 playoff appearances.
