It's almost time to grab the clubs and head down to your preferred greens in Swift Current for the return of the Darren McClelland Memorial Golf Classic.

This event honours the memory of Swift Current Fire Department Fire Chief Darren McClelland. It began operating last year, being put on by the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation.

This year, they will return to both the Chinook Golf Course and the Elmwood Golf Course alongside the McClelland family for another big round of hitting links.

Helping organize the event, which this year is presented by RBC Dominion Securities, is Crystal Imrie, the communications and development coordinator for the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation.

"We're honoured to continue this annual tournament in memory of the man who committed his life to serving his community," said Imrie.

For folks who still need to pick up tickets for their team, they still have room for 10 more. The event is set to take place on June 2, so folks should contact the foundation before then by calling 306-778-7393.

Teams who sign up get more than just the pleasure of golfing on some beautiful courses. They also get to enjoy prizes, raffles, skill holes, and a 50/50.

"This year, proceeds will be split between the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation, the Swift Current Fire Department and Swift Current EMS to support healthcare and emergency services in the southwest," said Imrie.
