Premier Scott Moe shuffled up the cabinet, which included some new ministers and a new role for Swift Current's MLA.

Everett Hindley remained the Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Trade and Export Development but now has also been giving the role of being the Government Whip.

"I'm grateful to have the opportunity to serve as the Government Whip," Hindley said. "When the Premier gave me the call, I was quite thankful and a little surprised as well. I am looking forward to the challenge to serve as the Government Whip. I know I will definitely be asking of my fellow colleagues that have served in that role for some advice and some tips as this is new to me. I am looking forward to the challenge and thankful to have the opportunity."

Hindley explained what the Government Whip's duties are.

"They ensure that there is a proper number of MLAs in the house for the government side for when there are votes taking place in the legislative chamber," he noted. "In addition to that, I will also help coordinate speakers for a number of items in front of committees and in the chamber if there is a speaker required and that help coordinate MLAs to help out in that front. Just ensure that the members of the government caucus are informed of the business before the chamber in the house each and every day during the session."

Over the past year of serving as Legislative Secretary, Hindley said it had been an exciting role.

"We've seen a lot of changes since I was first appointed as the Legislative Secretary. We've seen the challenges that have come up in regards to shipping of Canadian products and Saskatchewan products. Some of the challenges we are facing right now with regards to China and the level of impact that it has had in our province is front and centre for us as a government. Saskatchewan is a largely exporting province. We export anywhere 60 and 70 percent of what we produce."

Other changes to the cabinet include new Ministers of Government Relations, Highways and Infrastructure, and Rural and Remote Health. The Premier also announced a new cabinet responsibility for seniors.

The changes to the cabinet ministers saw Lori Carr become the Minister of Government Relations, Minister Responsible for First Nations, Métis and Northern Affairs, and Minister Responsible for the Provincial Capital Commission, Greg Ottenbreit become the Minister of Highways and Infrastructure, and Minister Responsible for the Water Security Agency, and Warren Kaeding becomes Minister Responsible for Rural and Remote Health.  Kaeding also becomes Minister Responsible for Seniors, a new cabinet responsibility that ensures Saskatchewan seniors have a dedicated voice at the cabinet table.

Premier Moe also announced changes to the Government House Leadership and Legislative Secretary Appointments.

Jeremy Harrison becomes Government House Leader, Paul Merriman becomes Government Deputy House Leader, Todd Goudy becomes Provincial Secretary and Legislative Secretary to the Premier, Lyle Stewart becomes Legislative Secretary to the Minister Responsible for the Water Security Agency, and Larry Doke becomes Legislative Secretary to the Minister Responsible for SaskPower.
