Shaunavon’s Kalan Lind has been selected to take part in next month’s CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, featuring some of the best WHL, OHL and QMJHL players eligible for the 2023 NHL Draft.

The 18-year-old forward was selected in the first round, sixth overall, by the Red Deer Rebels in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft and has scored 32 goals and 69 points in 102 regular season games. He has scored eight goals and 25 points in 25 games with the Rebels this season and is currently rated as a B-level prospect by NHL Central Scouting.

He’s one of 19 players from the WHL selected for the Top Prospects Game, including Regina Pats forward Connor Bedard, Jackson Unger and Braydon Yager from the Moose Jaw Warriors and Tanner Molendyk of the Saskatoon Blades.

The game is scheduled for January 25th in Langley, BC.

Bedard headlines Canada's WJC roster

Connor Bedard headlines Team Canada’s 22-man roster for the World Junior Hockey Championship later this month in Halifax and Moncton.

The WHL’s leading scorer (27 goals, 64 points) and projected first-overall draft pick is one of 11 current and former players from the league on the roster and one of eight players returning from Canada’s gold-medal winning team this past summer.

Also on the roster are returning players Logan Stankoven (Kamloops), Zack Ostapchuk (Vancouver), and Olen Zellweger (Everett), as well as Davidson's Nolan Allan and Saskatoon's Kevin Korchinski, who both play for the Seattle Thunderbirds.

Canada will start the tournament against Czechia on Boxing Day.
