Shaunavon’s Kalan Lind scored an empty netter for his second goal of the postseason as the Red Deer Rebels beat Saskatoon 3-1 on Tuesday to take a 3-0 stranglehold in their WHL Eastern Conference semi-final.

Lind was ranked 39th among North American skaters in NHL Central Scouting’s final rankings that were released earlier on Tuesday. The Rebels can move on to the Eastern Conference Final with a win tonight in Red Deer.

Meanwhile, Jagger Firkus and Lynden Lakovic had two goals each as the Moose Jaw Warriors doubled up Winnipeg 8-4 to take a 2-1 lead on the top-seeded ICE with game four in the Friendly City tonight.

Also, Brad Lambert had a goal and five assists for a six-point night as Seattle beat Prince George 8-1 to go up 3-0 on the Cougars in their Western Conference semi-final. The Thunderbirds can complete the sweep with a win tonight in Prince George.

The Kamloops Blazers visit the Portland Winterhawks for game three of their series tonight, with the Memorial Cup host Blazers leading the series 2-0.

Lowry scores twice as Jets win playoff opener

Former Swift Current Broncos captain Adam Lowry had two third-period goals as the Winnipeg Jets beat Vegas 5-1 in the opening game of their NHL playoff series with the Golden Knights.

Meanwhile, Brayden Point had two goals as Tampa Bay embarrassed the Maple Leafs 7-3 in Toronto. Chris Kreider scored twice on the power play as the New York Rangers beat the New Jersey Devils 5-1, and Eeli Tolvanen scored the very first playoff goal for the Seattle Kraken in a 3-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche.

Tonight, Edmonton hosts LA looking to rebound from an overtime loss to the Kings in the opening game of the series on Monday. Elsewhere, Boston welcomes Florida, Carolina hosts the Islanders and Dallas entertains Minnesota with the Bruins, Hurricanes and Stars leading their series 1-0.

Bassitt pitches gem as Jays get bounce-back win

Chris Bassitt pitched 6-1/3 shutout innings and allowed just three hits as the Toronto Blue Jays rebounded with a 4-2 win over the Houston Astros Tuesday night. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Matt Chapman homered while Bo Bichette and Santiago Espinal added RBI singles.

The rubber match of the three-game set is tonight with Jose Berrios starting for the Jays against Luis Garcia.

Celtics, Cavs and Suns win in NBA playoff action

Jayson Tatum had 29 points to lead the Boston Celtics to a 119-106 win over the Atlanta Hawks to take a 2-0 lead in their NBA Playoff series.

Elsewhere, Cleveland beat the Knicks 107-90 and the Phoenix Suns beat the Clippers 123-109. Those series are now tied at a game apiece.

Memphis hosts the LA Lakers, Minnesota heads to Denver and the Milwaukee Bucks host the Miami Heat tonight. The Lakers, Nuggets and Bucks won their playoff openers on the weekend.
