Over the weekend a local film production hosted a premiere in Swift Current, raising money for a charitable cause.

With the Christmas season approaching, so does the giving season, and Devon Oman, the producer, writer, and director of Zombageddon 3 was also doing some giving.

The zombie horror comedy movie premiered at Lucky Charlie's Pub & Pool on Saturday, and all $480 of the funds raised from ticket sales, and the sale of merchandise were given back to the Swift Current SPCA.

Production of the film took place in and around Swift Current and Gull Lake, featuring local actors and extras.

The film took two months to produce, and Oman said that the response about the movie made it worthwhile.

"I think we had a really good reaction last night, a lot of people thought it was going to be a lot more scary, we had more comedy in this one, we went with like the low-budget cheesy-type humor."

Oman said that the organization which has produced the trilogy, Dead Prairie Productions, gives 100 per cent of all of their profits to the SPCA.

Oman said that the SPCA has played a large role in his life.

"I have three dogs I rescued from the SPCA a few years ago, so the SPCA has been a big huge part of my life for many years."

Oman said that he enjoyed the production and the fundraising aspects of his filmmaking career.
"Oh, it's awesome doing something that I love, and giving back to the SPCA and helping out animals, it's great combining two of my passions."

Speaking on Swift Current's filmmaking community, Oman said that he would love to see it grow.

"Oh I would love to see Saskatchewan get back to their filming roots, and Swift Current would be amazing to see one day, grow more and more, and I'm going to continue doing this as much as I can, until I'm too old, and I'll pass it down to someone else."

Dead Prarie Productions began in 2012, and Oman said that since then they have created 11 films, raising over $15,000 for the SPCA over the years.
