Marion Patricia St. John passed away May 31, 2024 at the age of 99 years old at the Gull lake Special Care Centre in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan.

Marion was born on March 17, 1925 on the farm north of Gull Lake, Saskatchewan. Marion attended school at the Rich View School for eight years.

Growing up on the farm, Marion had many adventures and chores to do. At the age of sixteen years she lost her mother to cancer, which led her into the role of becoming “mom” helping her dad raise eight siblings.

On October 30, 1951, Marion married Jim St. John and lived on a farm at Antelope for a short time, eventually moving into a house at Antelope, Saskatchewan. Daughter, Darla was born in 1953 and son, Douglas was born in 1956. In 1964 the family moved into Warren’s Funeral Home at Gull Lake, Saskatchewan as caretakers and reception for 27 years. They also were janitors at the Knox United Church and Royal Bank.

Marion enjoyed quilting, crafting, drawing, painting, puzzles, crossword, music and singing. She was always in the mood for a game of scrabble or Yahtzee, tending to her flowers and plants. Most of all she loved keeping up with her diary and writing poetry.

Marion is survived by grandchildren: Dwayne, Kevin (Amanda), Beverly (Shaun), Ruth (Dan); great – grandchildren: Brendan, Jenna, Ryley, Taylor, Shyanne, Jimmy, Halle, Lenny, Sylvia, and Ryan; great great grandchild: Axton; her brother, Roy; sister- in- law, Vi and many nieces and nephews.

Marion is predeceased by parents: Jens and Eva, husband Jim; children: Darla and Douglas, great grandchildren: Mary and Jane; siblings: Dagmar, Christina, Elden (Marguerite), Ralph (Marion), Howard, Marjorie (Cecil), Alma (Dick), Jim (Pat), Verna (Gerald); and sister- in-law, Faye.

The memorial service will be held on June 6, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the Knox United Church in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan with Rev. Ken Schrag officiating. The interment will take place at a later date by family at the St. John Cemetery.
