More information is being released about the arrest of Matthew Barker, after RCMP apprehended the man on Friday morning.

Barker was wanted on warrants from the Nipawin RCMP, Tisdale RCMP, Hudson Bay RCMP and Swan River RCMP.

As a result of the arrest, officers located approximately 27 grams of methamphetamine, a weapon and drug-related paraphernalia in his possession.

A subsequent search conducted of a hotel room used by Barker located several loaded handguns.

The 31-year-old is now facing 13 charges after he was arrested in Winnipeg, MB. including one charge of possession of a controlled substance (Methamphetamine), two charges of unsafe storage of a firearm, two charges of possession of a restricted firearm without license/registration, and five counts of failing to comply with release order condition.

Matthew Barker was remanded into custody for a court appearance scheduled May 9, 2022, in Winnipeg.
