It will now be easier for more people to enjoy beaches at Saskatchewan's provincial parks.

Five new wheelchairs have been added - bringing the total to 10 at the disposal for park visitors with mobility challenges.

The wheelchairs are made of lightweight aluminum and have large buoyant tires so they can navigate over sand and go up to one foot deep in water.

Visitors planning on using the wheelchairs are advised to book them in advance about a week before visiting so they can be moved from another park if necessary. The bookings are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Our visitors have a diverse range of needs and the addition of these beach wheelchairs mean that more people can enjoy exactly what makes our parks so special," said Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Ken Cheveldayoff.

The Saskatchewan side of Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park is included in the parks where visitors can use the wheelchairs.
