Phyllis Baron of Mankota, SK, passed away January 9, 2024 at age 83 years. Phyllis Evelyn Perrin was born July 13, 1940 on the Bingham farm south of Mankota, Saskatchewan. She attended Wideview School for Grades 1-10 taking her Grade 10 by correspondence but attending school. Phyllis and Harvey were married April 26, 1957 and started their married life in Uncle Grover Cleveland’s house in Mankota. They then bought the Jake Shaw farm where they raised grain, pigs and chickens. Later, they moved the house into Mankota onto South Hill. In 1985 they moved the present house into town across the street from where they lived. Phyllis worked at Kouri’s Market, the Paris Hotel and the Grassland’s Inn as well as cleaning the credit union. Phyllis spent many hours, gardening and preserving then generously sharing the bounty. She enjoyed reading, word puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. At Christmas time she still had around 150 jigsaw puzzles she hadn’t done yet. Many family members have quilts and hooked rugs that she crafted. She enjoyed her retirement years bowling, playing cards at the New Horizon and Tuesday lunches with the ladies. Phyllis is survived by her five children, six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren: Earl (Wendy) their sons Logan and Chance (Jenn), and great-grandson Chase Swain; Jerry; Bev (Dana LaFrance) her children Chris (Jezi) Martin and their children Kenadie, Kashiahna, Nadas, Harleigh and Everley, and Kelly Neigum (Wade) and her children Kase, Kenzie, Kadince and Memphis; Paul; Shannon (Dustin) Giesbrecht and their children Hastin and Sadie. Phyllis is also survived by her siblings Gail Rode (Grant Verbrugge), Norma Jessop, Shirley Syrenne, Dale (Darlene) Perrin, Deb (Wes) Kinnee and Linda (Clem) Goddu; brothers-in-law Phil (Bea) Baron and Ernie (Donna) Baron, Harvey’s aunt Bertha Wells, numerous nieces and nephews and many of her children’s friends who became part of her family. She was predeceased by her husband Harvey, parents Slim and Dorothy Perrin, grandson Jesse Swain, brother Henry, several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. She will be missed by her family and friends. A Celebration of Life Service for Phyllis will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 2:00pm at the Calvary United Church, Mankota, SK.
