A trio of southwestern Saskatchewan's rural municipalities will be receiving provincial funding for some road improvements.

Last week the province released a list of 100 rural municipal roads, five are located in the southwest, that will score funding over the next three years through the Rural Integrated Roads for Growth (RIRG) Program.

The RM of Maple Creek is set to obtain about $99,000 for three different clay capping road projects within their jurisdiction. About 15.5 kilometres on North Hatton Road, roughly 2.6 kilometres on Southview Road 13-11-29, and just under 5.2 kilometres on Southview Road 33 & 28-10-39.

The RM of Lac Pelletier will get the largest chunk of dough from the province at just over $406,000. They plan to do a grading project on Township 100 West covering just shy of 7.9 kilometres.

And the RM of Carmichael will use their $157,500 to clay cap a 2.2 kilometre stretch on Garden Head Corner.

The projects are a 50/50 cost-shared between the RM and the province.

The announcement made on September 23 was in partnership with the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM).
