The Saskatchewan Government is more than doubling its investments in the Community Airport Partnership Program in 2020-21.

The province will invest 1.5 million dollars in improvements to 15 community airports around the province.

Steve Shaheen is the Senior Communications Consultant with Highways and Infrastructure. He said, "Essentially, what it is, is a 50/50 cost-shared grant to municipal governments to improve community airports, and the program helps offset costs associated with rehabilitation and upgrades networks of community airports."

Most of this year's additional funds come from the government's 2 billion dollar stimulus package that will increase investment in infrastructure to 7.5 billion dollars over the next two years.

Southwest area airports receiving funding include Rockglen that will receive $5,000 to bring their airport back into service, Leader that will receive over $36,000 for crack repair and slurry seal, Maple Creek that will receive over $43,000 for runway sealing and Swift Current that will receive the full $275,000 fir paint markings and major rehabilitation of asphalt surfaces.
