As spring is in full force people will soon be doing some outside spring cleaning, if they haven't already.

With the cleaning on the horizon, the City of Swift Current's Yard Waste Program will open up for the 2019 season starting on April 27 and run until November 5.

Keegan Story, solid, waste, and diversion superintendent with the City of Swift Current said that only organic materials can be thrown into the bins.

"It will be very similar to last years yard waste collection," he said. "There will be two ground level bins that they can empty their yard waste into. The bins will be divided up once again into leafy materials, grass clippings, leaves, and plant materials into one side and tree trimmings, branches, brush and more of the wood material into the other side."

Story adds that no animal waste is allowed into the bins as well as brancher over eight inches in diameters.

Bins will be located on the south side at the former St. Joseph's School site on Dahl Street and on the north side will be located in the Innovation Credit Union iPlex.

Story noted that the bins are a little bit bigger compared to last year.

The locations will be open Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday afternoons from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Saturday and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
