Coming up this week, the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce is presenting a series of webinars to help local businesses access the maximum amount of support and money available to them through government programs during the Covid-19 pandemic.

This is something membership across the province and country have been faced with resulting in numerous challenges.

Karla Weins, CEO of the Swift Current Chamber of Commerce provides details on the webinar series.

"Applying for the various funding programs has been an ever-evolving thing that is, and can be difficult for business owners to navigate. So in an effort to alleviate that, this partnership with MNP through Saskatchewan Chamber to host these complimentary webinars has been well received."

According to statistics released in early October, businesses within the province had only accessed 1.7% of the wage subsidy available.

Weins adds that there has been an expansion to most of the programs to try and encompass a broader range of people that have or will be impacted by COVID-19.

Weins, reflects on her experience after being involved with one of the previous webinars.

"I attended one earlier on in October and it was very good information. So it covers a multitude of programs. The one I attended specifically focused fairly heavily on the wage subsidy program because that can be a challenge to set up your application and get through it. But it also focused on the Emergency Business Assistance Loans that have been out there and are changing as well."

Weins adds that she hopes the webinars help business owners navigate through and find direction and make their application process a whole lot easier.

The webinar will take place Thursday, November, 26th at 10 am and again on Friday, November 27th at 2 pm.

Weins encourages anyone interested to attend the webinars as you don't have to be a chamber member to sign up. The goal is to provide assistance and direction to the entire business community according to Weins.
