Saskatchewan is taking the lead.

The Ethanol industry is expanding rapidly and Saskatchewan could be a major player.

The president of the Saskatchewan Ethanol development council, Lionel Labelle, recently took part in an international forum.

He says the industry is continually growing and evolving especially in the US and we can benefit from that.

"Saskatchewan seeded about just double the amount of acres that Minnesota did, so we can be bigger, we can be larger, we can literally ship our Ethanol to the West Coast, to the United States cheaper than they can do it from Minnesota, so we have a tremendous opportunity."

Saskatchewan would like to see a 5% Ethanol mandate by 2008, increasing to between 7-10% by 2010.
