Numerous Road Safety initiatives are coming to communities across Saskatchewan thanks to the Provincial Traffic Safety Fund.

A total of 112 projects have been approved in 108 rural, urban and indigenous communities, with a total of 1.4 million dollars spent to improve traffic safety.

The Town of Shaunavon has received a total of $6,532 for a traffic safety improvement to the Third Avenue intersection between The Bridge Church and The Red Apple.

Ron Phillips is the Director of Operations for The Town of Shaunavon. He said, "The money's gonna go towards a push button flashing crosswalk sign for both sides of the intersection, just like we put on Center Street last year."

Phillips adds that they had received a number of concerns about that specific intersection.

The signage should be fully installed by the end of July.

Other southwest communities receiving funding include: The Town of Eastend, that received just over $7,000, the community of Gull Lake, that received over $47,000, the Town of Maple Creek, that received just over $7,000, and the Piapot First Nation, that received over $19,000.
